Arthrosan Forte
Why should someone with a shellfish allergy be careful when taking Glucosamine?
When one is allergic to shellfish it is usually the protein (meat) that they are allergic to and not the chitin (shell) from which the glucosamine is extracted. In most cases all protein is or should be removed. It is therefore advisable for these people to monitor themselves closely when taking glucosamine and discuss with their healthcare professional.
Why has Chondroitin not been added to Arthrosan Forte Double Action Joint Formula?
There are 5 main reasons why we have not included Chondroitin in our formulation:
- Not many clinical trials have been carried out on chondroitin and many researchers still believe that it is cannot be absorbed.
- It is very costly and pushes up the price of a product without necessarily increasing the effectiveness.
- Many patients report becoming bloated and retaining excess water, and thisoften restricts ones movement even more.
- Chondroitin sulphate is, in most cases, taken from the trachea of cows posing problems for vegetarians and can pose the threat of "mad cow disease".
- Chondroitin sulphate is similar in structure to the blood-thinning medication Heparin and may cause bleeding in some people.
Why should diabetics be careful when taking glucosamine?
Glucosamine is an amino acid and therefore can interfere with ones blood sugar levels. It is therefore necessary to monitor levels more frequently.
Is there any difference in glucosamine hydrochloride and glucosamine sulphate?
No there is no difference in the efficacy of these two forms of glucosamine. Most clinical trials have been carried out on glucosamine sulphate and for this reason it may appear more in articles.

Floradix Liquid Iron
What is the story with the Vitamin D and vegetarian/vegan diets?
As far as we know a vegetarian diet allows animal products such as milk, eggs or honey as long as the animal is not killed - therefore the vitamin D from wool wax. This is extracted during the treatment of wool after harvesting and which causes no harm to the animal. Another point is that this keeps the cost of the tonics down as much as we can do this.
Apparently the attitude of vegans is different. They refuse these foods, and do not use leather and wool either therefore wool wax and the extracted vitamin D3 are not suitable according to their lifestyles. For them all this is the result of "animal exploitation".

We completely respect that opinion, but hope that the customer also understands that we use vitamin D3 (calciferol) for technological reasons as already mentioned above.

Is the honey pasteurised?
Yes.
What is the Sodium content?
3.66 mg per 10 ml.
Is there any Vitamin K in the formula?
There are no detectable levels of Vitamin K in either formula.

7 mg of crude herb per dose of 10 ml.
Source of iron in ferrous gluconate?
It is mined from the ground as iron ore.
Is there Vitamin C in Floradix?
Yes, but not listed under med ingredients, because there is very little in it – approx 60 mg/daily dose. Helps absorption and preservation of the iron, but because of iron content it is not very stable, so the amount may vary.
What is the level of Vitamin K in either tonic?
Both products contain - if any - only traces of Vitamin K. Vitamin K is naturally in herbal plants and fruit juices, which are also part of these products. Since the amount of Vitamin K in these ingredients is very low and no Vat K is added to the product no assay is carried out. Therefore, the Vitamin K content is more than likely not detectable.
Is Floradix suitable for diabetics?
Floradix is generally considered to be suitable for diabetics but the following information should be taken into account:
- Carbohydrates; 2.45g/10ml
- 100ml contains 2 BU (bread units)
- 10ml contains 0.2 BU
- 1 BU = 12g of glucose
- 20ml (daily intake) contains 4.8 grams of glucose.
Can I drink tea/coffee at the same time as taking Floradix/Floravital?
Black tea or coffee contain tanning agents which will inhibit the absorption of the iron content, thus reducing the efficacy of the product. However, herbal teas containing vitamin C can help in iron absorbtion so they can be taken at the same time as Floradix/ Floravital.
I have just received a 10ml trial size sample of Floradix/Florivital from you, but it does not state how much to take. Is it to be taken at once?
Our 10ml trial size sample bottles are merely a taster sample and are equivalent to a single intake, therefore the entire contents of the bottle should be taken.
